8. Library Networks
- Libraries need to leverage membership in multiple networks to get a satisfactory return on investment.
- The value of a network is directly correlated with provision of access to information resources. We need to weave together myriad information resources that reside in balkanized information systems so the end user can easily find information and still be reassured that their search has been thorough.
- Networks are driven by cost savings and have adverse effects on local institutions.
- The future is one of continue expansion in scale and cooperativity with attention to preserving local specificity of collections.
